From top to bottom, levels of communication detailed in the diagram of the previous post are:

- SCADA high level: at regional or country. ICCP Protocol (in this case) - SCADA Enterprise: the enterprise level. DNP Protocol (this case) - Substation HMI: Modbus Protocol. - Interaction between relays: control and protection functions. IEC61850 Protocol

In the design chosen in our case study, only 61,850 are used for automatic exchange of information between relays.

Local HMI functions were implemented with GE EnerVista Viewpoint Monitoring. SCADA functions at the corporate level are developed using Visual Substation Cybectec working with Communications Server. The detail will see in coming posts.
