N.C. panel touts wind energy use - A new study released Wednesday by Gov. Bev Perdue said North Carolina had the largest offshore wind resource on the East Coast and that the state should work with industry to develop the wind energy industry.

The panel obviously did not read the reports mentioned in the title.  The Civitas report cites a study by Mott MacDonald showing offshore wind is significantly more expensive than CCGT and advanced cycle coal, even with carbon costs thrown in and, is also significantly more expensive than nuclear power.  Both that study and the one by C. le Pair indicate wind does not decrease CO2 emissions and, in fact, the Dutch physicist concluded it actually increases CO2 emissions by 3%.
