Jerry Brown administration to support disputed trash-burning plant - Gov. Jerry Brown's administration says it will support a Canadian company's effort to vaporize garbage and turn it into electricity in Monterey County, despite concerns raised by environmentalists.

As long as the pollution controls are in place, I have difficulty understanding the strenuous objections of environmentalists to garbage gasification and combustion.  There is a lot of stuff in garbage that is not recyclable.  Some of the stuff that degrades has toxic products from that degradation.  Landfills attract vermin and insects that increase the possibility of spreading diseases.  Some of the stuff in that goes into landfills will take a long time to degrade, if they ever do.  Landfills emit methane.

Environmentals fail to recognize in many cases that the environment changes.  While I am firmly against deliberate or negligent pollution, I believe it is readily evident that the environment and climate has been changing since long before Man existed, much less before he started burning fuel to make power.  It is almost as though environmentals want mankind to disappear from the Earth--at least all of it except themselves--to maintain the environment as is, obviously not realizing the environment is dynamic.
