All such Energy programms must be evaluated on the principle of techno-economics.For example if you cut the suply to water chillers , and you land up paying overtime to workers or you have spoiled food in the restaurants or changes in availability of food then I believe it is not worth to do  these excercises. In one case when the tatriff was changed to make itcheaper during the night , the worker in factories had to be paid three times their wages because they were now working in night shifts. After some time it was discontinued.Macro economic data is often not collected properly and claims are made about eenergy saving. What is the overall effect on functioning of economic and on Society in General?

After all not long ago we were factoring in the losses to society in dollar terms if there is shortage of powwer while deciding the reserve capacity.or power system ex[pansion.

Are we to simply thru all that to winds? All economics or saving is not feasibile nor healthy in short/ medium/ or long term.

I think any Indian in India will tell you that We are fed up of governments telling us to save this and that and making our lives miserable .. Now take water- they advice all to save water and what they expect to do with that water- treated water is used in massive quantities to watering gardens in Delhi etc.

Enough of such savings !
