India has 35 percent energy stolen by thiefs. This is often used to create goods and services on which no taxes are paid. This is feedstock for what is called black market economy.Coupled with self generation not registered otherwise this constituts a staggering 40 pertcent of Indian economy.-This is also the roaring source for monies deposited abroad in banks illegally.

No concrete figures are availble but it could be USD 50 Billion dollar since 1991.Now Statitistics has been used since ages by utilies to catch thieft. Then why there is so much pf theft?

Any form of anaytics is the same in different format. If you add GIS etc are you any better if the data base itself is corrupt especially if the utility personnel are not made responsble for it?This is what is happening in INDIA!

So relax at the end of it all energy thiefs may be caught or may not be caught .Unless the root causes are not addressed thiefs will stay out of the net/
