Look up the history and you will find atleast 1000 towns wiped out by storms such as Sandy over the last 1200 years. Some of them fairly big in their times. So all those who think that it is only occuring now are fooling themselves Now those toens may exist in much smaller sizes in the aftermath of storms or be completely absent from the Map.

In those days there was no electricity and so this topic of discussion did not exist. It is not practical to design grids for storms such as Sandy.

Self suffecient Energy buildings or zero energy buildings is a way out Modern technologies can help build them. In recent months structures were found uderground which contained artifacts 2000 years old almost in intact condition. These  structures were dated to year 1100 AD

THere was no moisture or any insects inside them and they also contained manuscripts which are dated 900 Years old. Now the structure was found heavily insulated from its surrounding that is earth.

While it is a matter of futhur investigation it points to new methodology for building zero energy buildings.Good preservation at low temperatures have been known since ages. The structure was in the area where temoeratures remain moderate throughout the year.

Insulating the building from earth will definetely reduce its energy use and itcould help build buildings that have low energy use.Somewell known architects are now studying such several buildings built around 1100 to 1300 AD Invariably they have been built on teak wood piles
