The real Energy requirement in India of all types currently, is at least three times what is available be it Electric/ gas or any other.In sum this is reflected in large scale bl;ack marketing of gas cylinders of all types and practically unavaiilbility to 70 percent of the  population that lives in villages.Energy policies of the government are highly inadequate to address this situation and black outs and black marketing as related to gas etc  is likely to continue well upto next twenty years because the backlog is mind boggling . It does not require a great brain to decipher that energy policies of the Government has failed completely  to monitor this situation and design adequate energy security policies.Shale gas was proposed to be extracted but government   has shown complete indiiference to it and has compounded problems by removing subsidies from Gas cylinders which has given rise to enormous spurt to black marketing .LPG cylinders have been used to run generators and also cars as a source of cheap fuel

.Electricity is facing a problem of huge dimensions with record theft of it and falling production with bad maintainence of old plants.Thus Energy policy and planning is a massive failure on the part of the Planning commission (Agency Responsible for it) as its statistics are faulty and all the things it has been doing are totally inadequate.. It requires immediate attention   to work out a sensible and workable plan sing internal gas and power resources and mobilizing resources on a war footing
