I just learned that August is National Water Quality month.  Not sure how this relates to HR?  Yeah, me neither, hopefully it will come around.  It does relate to utilities and utility employees, which my company just happens to specialize in.

We recently started working with a few Associations involved in rural water.  When I was on one of their websites, I saw something pretty cool that they are doing…a water taste test.  Each of the 48 Associations across the country has their own local competition.  Then they send a representative from the company that won to the National Competitioneach year.

It’s a nice way to bring importance to the rural water employees’ jobs.  What they do affects thousands of peoples’ lives through water.  And what a great way to recognize employees

What can your human resources department take from this?  Think outside the box for ways to engage your employees.  Maybe give them a little competition.  Think Employee of the Month, but within reason of course!

What unique ways are you engaging your employees?
