record heat index

If you all have been reading our articles, you have read a lot about the record heat in Texas and the effect it is having on energy savings.  Yesterday marked the 62nd day of triple digit heat in Texas.  We are getting very close to breaking an all time record of 68 days.  When it is hot like it is, a lot of different things are affected.

ERCOT, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, has issued another request that consumers conserve as much energy as they possibly can.  They ask we do this throughout Tuesday from 3PM to 7PM.  According to ERCOT, conservation of energy is critical.

Please read our article from last week if you have not done so already.  We always like to suggest ways to save on energy in Texas, and there are some great tips within that article that talks on ways to do that.  Also, Texas needs your help.  If we exceed our demand, some businesses and homes are threatened with a loss of power.

We can do our part.  Personally, I always leave ceiling fans on because I want air in my house to circulate during the day.  That has ended.  ERCOT urges consumers to shut off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances.  An increase of demand directly impacts our rates.  So, if we can make an honest effort on conserving energy, we can help in obtaining Texas low energy rates.

How can you become more proactive toward energy conservation?  What part are you willing to play?
