H. Christine Richards Bio


H. Christine Richards is vice president of Energy Central’s Intelligent Utility division and editor-in-chief of Intelligent Utility magazine. Intelligent Utility brings more the 20,000 utility industry participants a fresh perspective on smart grid initiatives from a real-world perspective. Since the magazine’s launch in January 2009, Christine and her team have chronicled more than 50 utility company journeys toward a smarter grid and more intelligent utility.

Prior to her roles at Energy Central, Christine served as lead analyst for the intelligent grid practice at IDC Energy Insights—a leading market research firm for the energy industry. Her clients included some of the largest investor-owned utilities and public power producers in North America along with the largest IT vendors in the world. In this position, she conducted rigorous research and wrote about critical issues facing smart grid efforts. Christine’s ability to bring a fresh perspective to such areas and encourage her clients to take another look at how they think about and approach these T&D issues earned her prestigious research and quality awards from IDC.

Christine received her master’s degree from Cornell University and graduated Summa cum Laude with a bachelor of science from Colorado State University.
