Duke Energy to sell carbon offsets - Duke Energy Corp. plans to offer customers the chance to buy carbon dioxide offsets -- extra money donated to support the green movement and soothe their environmental consciences.

That's the article Energy Central News chose to run today -- factual, but only part of the facts.

The fact is both of North Carolina's investor owned utilities have told the state's Utilities Commission they plan to offer carbon offsets, but the article chosen by Energy Central News makes no mention of Progress Energy or the commission.

Yet there is an article out there in the online universe that makes both points -- at http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssIndustryMaterialsUtilitiesNews/idUSN2I20267420080218.

This is a common problem with Energy Central's coverage -- the best article found with a Google search is not the link they provide -- even when the link provided goes to an article that is run several days later than the more complete article.

When one emails Energy Central to point this out, the email is ignored.
