The political silly season is off to an early start with energy is front and center.

The only question: How long will it last? To the conventions or all the way to November 2012?

The proof comes via CNN from Greenville, SC, where Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann told a crowd of supporters Tuesday that she will lower gas prices if she's elected president.

"Under President Bachmann, you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again," Bachmann said to a crowd in Greenville, SC. "That will happen."

While Bachmann did not specifically say how she would help gas prices come back down, her website says she would ease restrictions on drilling.
